Black Friday lands on November 27 this year, with Cyber Monday right behind it on November 30.¹ That’s four weeks from today.
Four weeks feels like plenty of time, until you realize how much has to happen in it. So instead of one giant to-do list, let’s split it into four bite-sized weeks. Do one chunk each week, and you’ll go into Black Friday calm instead of scrambling.
Why These Four Weeks Matter
The stakes are big. Adobe expects Black Friday online sales to reach $12.9 billion, up 9.2% from last year. Cyber Monday is projected to pass $15 billion, which would be a new record.² And traffic from AI shopping tools to retail sites is expected to jump 95% on Black Friday alone.³
Most of what decides your share of that happens before the day, not on it.
Week 1 (Oct 29 – Nov 4): Lock In Deals and Stock
Check your deal status. Amazon’s main Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal submissions closed on October 20.¹ If you missed it, you still have options. Prime Exclusive Discounts have reportedly been extended to November 13,⁴ and coupons are always available. Make sure any deals you did submit aren’t suppressed in your Deals dashboard.
Know your deal costs. Best Deals and Lightning Deals carry a $100 upfront fee per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, capped at $5,000.¹ Factor that into your margin math.
Confirm your inventory. Check that your holiday stock has arrived or is on its way. If inbound shipments are running late, decide now which products get priority, and slow ad spend on anything that might run out.
Week 2 (Nov 5 – Nov 11): Polish Your Listings
Update content before the freeze. Many sellers stop making listing changes around November 9, so nothing breaks right before the rush.⁴ Get your holiday images, gift-focused keywords, and bundles live before then.
Check every listing on mobile. A big share of Black Friday shopping happens on phones. Make sure your main image, title, and price make sense on a small screen.
Answer the obvious questions. Look at your product Q&A and recent reviews. If shoppers keep asking the same thing, put the answer in your bullets or images.
Week 3 (Nov 12 – Nov 18): Protect Your Price and Plan Your Ads
Set up price monitoring. Discount season is when unauthorized sellers and price undercutting get worse. A simple ecommerce price monitoring routine means checking your top products daily for new sellers and sudden price drops. It also helps you spot competitors’ deals early.
Get your brand protection and price control in order. Review your MAP policy, check for listing hijackers, and make sure your brand details are correct. Good brand protection and price control keeps your discount working for you, not for a reseller who undercuts you.
Build your ad plan. Raise budgets gradually from mid-November instead of all at once on Black Friday. Plan for higher bids on your hero products, and set daily budget alerts so your campaigns don’t stop at noon on the biggest day of the year.
Week 4 (Nov 19 – Nov 27): Go Live and Stay Alert
Watch for early deal events. Black Friday week on Amazon has usually started about a week before Black Friday itself.⁴ Be ready for traffic to pick up early.
Monitor daily, not weekly. Check stock levels, ad spend, Buy Box status, and pricing every day. Keep your ecommerce price monitoring running right through Cyber Monday, because undercutting often spikes once deals go live.
Prepare customer service. Have answers ready for shipping, gifting, and returns questions. Quick replies protect your seller metrics and your reviews.
Your Black Friday Countdown Checklist
A Global Ecommerce Accelerator plans peak season in weeks, not days, and you can do the same with this list:
- Confirm deal status and submit Prime Exclusive Discounts if needed
- Recalculate margins with deal fees included
- Verify inventory and prioritize best-sellers
- Finish listing updates before November 9
- Test top listings on mobile
- Set up daily price and seller monitoring
- Review MAP policy and brand details
- Plan a gradual ad budget ramp from mid-November
- Prepare customer service replies for gifting and returns
Any Global Ecommerce Accelerator will tell you the same thing: the brands that win Black Friday are rarely the ones with the biggest discount. They’re the ones whose stock, listings, pricing, and ads were all ready before the first shopper arrived.
Whether you work with a Global Ecommerce Accelerator or run it yourself, take it one week at a time. Four focused weeks beat one panicked one.
