Post play is still a vital part of today's game. While many experts claim that post play is a lost art in modern basketball, Mark Few has used this strategy to take Gonzaga to the upper echelon of NCAA basketball - including the 2017 National Championship Game!

In this video, you'll learn how Coach Few uses his big men for one of the most efficient offenses in the country. He discusses how his team builds a philosophy centered around post play, teaching points around many aspects of getting the ball into the posts, how to get the ball to your big man in transition, spacing the floor to give your post room to make a play, and seven different sets with additional counters!

Secondary Break

Run a fast break that emphasizes feeding the post for easy layups in transition. Few breaks down the progression of strategies his team uses to get the ball inside in their secondary break. You'll learn how the point guard can read the post defender to make an easy play. You will also see three additional angles to get the ball inside. This includes how to play a high-low with your two post players! Coach Few also demonstrates how the Bulldogs flow into their offense with a stagger screen and ball screens if the post is unable to get the ball.

Spacing the Floor

With some of the most dominant post players in the country, Gonzaga regularly faced opponents that would send double teams and focus on helping in the paint. How you space the floor with your perimeter players is critical to make your opponent pay. Few shows you three strategies he uses to spread out shooters and preoccupy defenders.

Plays for the Post

Learn seven new set plays to help you get the ball inside to your post player. You'll get to see the first set that Coach Few usually runs in a game to study his opponent's defensive strategies for post play. Additionally, this set overloads the defense to force them into giving up either a dunk or open 3-point shot. Few shows the power play that frees up either of the post players for a score right at the rim. Two additional pick & roll plays will open up your post through different methods to keep the defense guessing. Through many of these plays, Coach Few discusses counters and wrinkles you can use based on what the defense does.

Mark Few's strategies to add a dominant post play option into your offense will give you a valuable option in the seasons ahead!
